SHORT TERM vs LONG TERM COUNSELING

WHY SHORT TERM THERAPY?

Short term therapy lasts less than 20 sessions. Short term therapy is appropriate for situational problems. My areas of specialization include:
Depression and Anxiety, relationship issues, loss and grief, acute and long term trauma, addictions, and coping skills.

SHOULD I CONSIDER LONG TERM THERAPY?

Long term therapy is appropriate for persons interested in psychoanalytic introspection. Clients diagnosed with severe mental illness and/or personality disorder would benefit from long term therapy.

SOLUTION FOCUSED THERAPY

Support That Makes a Difference

SHORT TERM THERAPY

 Goals:

Identify what you feel is a concern(s). Identify and work to settle feelings regarding your concern(s). Develop a tool box of coping skills to navigate your concern(s).

Benefits:

Short Term Therapy is approved by most insurance companies. Assist you in gaining control of your mental health in an effective timeframe. Can be as effective as long term therapy

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

Goals:

 Identify how feelings, situations, and triggers influence your emotions. Learn how to change thoughts to change your feelings and responses to situations, and triggers. Identify unhealthy thinking patterns. Set goals to address and eliminate unhealthy thinking patterns.

Benefits:

Reduction of anxiety. Develops ability to deconstruct negative or irrational thinking, and replace with healthy, positive thoughts patterns. Develops problem solving skills.

MINDFULNESS

Goals:
Develop an awareness of self. Develop an acceptance of self and the world around you. Develop a tool box of mental health tools to mindfully navigate your concern(s). Develop mediation/relaxation skills.
Benefits: 
Reduction of anxiety/stress. You develop a new tool to deal with stress and anxiety, thus producing positive energy and thoughts. You develop tools to combat negative emotions and energy.

EMDR

Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. With EMDR sessions, you’ll learn about reprocessing past traumatic memories with better present functioning.
